Substrate Preparation Done Right from the Start

At More Tiles More, we handle substrate prep with the same focus and precision as the tile install itself. A strong, flat, and properly prepared base is non-negotiable—bad prep leads to cracked tiles, lippage, hollow sounds, and water damage. We don’t move forward until your surface is ready. We work across Boise, Meridian, Nampa, and nearby cities preparing floors, walls, and specialty surfaces for long-lasting tile installs.

Frequently asked questions

Improper or skipped prep is the #1 cause of cracked tile, grout failure, and moisture issues. A stable, flat, and clean surface ensures the tile lasts and stays visually consistent.
Sometimes. But we’ll inspect first. In many cases, old adhesives need to be removed, or the surface must be primed or reinforced to support tile.
Only if the floor isn’t flat within industry standards (3mm over 3m). We assess your surface and only recommend leveling when it’s needed to avoid lippage or failure.
We work on concrete, plywood, cement board, drywall, existing tile, and radiant floor systems. Each one has different requirements before tile can be applied.
It depends on the size and condition of the surface. Minor leveling and patching may take a few hours. Full slab prep or moisture mitigation can take 1–2 days before tile work starts.
